London & Leicester Diwali 2023

London and Leicester Diwali 2023 welcomed The Elephants on Parade to both events.

Festivities began with the illumination of the Diwali lights and, from that very first moment, a vibrant atmosphere filled the streets. Over the following two weeks, celebrations continued across both cities, building steadily toward Diwali Day on 12th November. Throughout this period, communities gathered to honour the triumph of light over darkness, while enjoying music, dance, food and cultural performances.

Meanwhile, The Elephants on Parade moved gracefully through the heart of each event, captivating audiences wherever they appeared. Families paused for photographs, children watched in awe and crowds quickly formed around these majestic creations. As a result, their appearances became a true highlight of the celebrations. In particular, the scale, movement and intricate detailing of the elephants created a powerful visual spectacle that complemented the energy of the festivals.

In addition, the elephants were honoured with a special audience with London Mayor, Sadiq Khan. This memorable moment not only recognised the significance of the occasion but also celebrated the diversity and unity that define Diwali in the UK.

Furthermore, both cities delivered vibrant stage programmes featuring traditional and contemporary performances. As the evenings drew in, the illuminated streets created a magical backdrop for the roaming elephants. Consequently, the atmosphere felt both intimate and grand, reflecting the spirit of Diwali itself.

We were incredibly proud to be part of such important cultural celebrations. Above all, it was a privilege to share our work with communities who embraced the event with warmth, joy and enthusiasm.
