Out There Arts Festival

The Out There Arts Festival is an independent arts development charity based in Great Yarmouth, collaborating with artists from across the globe. Not only does it champion creativity at a grassroots level, but it also creates meaningful opportunities for both performers and local communities. Through supporting, hosting and delivering innovative circus and street arts projects, the festival continues to strengthen the cultural landscape year after year. As a result, it has become a vibrant platform for bold, original performance work.

This year, we were delighted to present Professor Patel’s Bollywood Punjeet & Judy-gee Show as part of the programme. Performing at the Out There Arts Festival, Britain’s first Asian Punch & Judy performer brought a fresh and imaginative twist to a much-loved tradition. By blending classic puppet theatre with contemporary satire, the show offered something both familiar and refreshingly new.

The story follows Punjeet as he attempts to be a devoted husband and father. However, his efforts repeatedly unravel in spectacular fashion. Along the way, audiences meet a host of colourful characters, including Boris the Clown From London Town and Dr Singh Who Makes You Go Ping. In addition, surprise appearances from recognisable figures in politics and popular culture add an extra layer of comedy and relevance.

Ultimately, the big question remains: will Punjeet redeem himself, or will the Devil have the final say? Only the audience can decide. Consequently, each performance feels lively, interactive and entirely unique. Perfect for families, the show combines laugh-out-loud humour for children with sharp satire for adults, ensuring wide appeal throughout the festival.
