On 9 August 2025, Raja, The Elephant from The Elephants on Parade appeared at the Camden Market Mela when Camden Market exploded with vibrant colour. Raja, The Elephant was beautifully decorated and full of character, as he paraded through the busy market streets. Families, shoppers and festival-goers cheered and waved. Children watched in amazement. Adults stopped to take photos, making the performance one of the day’s most captured moments.
The Camden Market Mela celebrates South Asian Arts and Culture. It highlighted traditional music, dance, and cuisine and reflected Camden’s rich diversity. This year’s event included live performances, street food, free crafts, henna artists, and bright market stalls. Raja’s appearance added an extra burst of colour and excitement.
As part of The Elephants on Parade project, Raja is only one of the elephant characters that stand for creativity, diversity and cultivates cultural pride. The act brings people together and encourages everyone to share communal moments of joy.
The warm response from the audience was incredible. The Elephants on Parade hope to return next year and continue spreading colour, joy, and connection wherever the act performs.
